Biographical Information

Ayala Wineman is an Assistant Professor of International Development in AFRE, associated with the Food Security Group. Her research focuses on poverty and rural development in sub-Saharan Africa. In the past, her research has emphasized food security measurement and the effects of climate variability and climate change in East and Southern Africa. More recently, she focuses on the topics of land access, land markets, and migration in East Africa. Prior to her graduate studies, she worked as a math and English teacher in Guyana and Ethiopia.
